A private, non-profit organization, the Andrew County Museum is housed in a modern 14,000 sq. ft. facility donated by Harry F. Duncan. The Museum is dedicated to collecting, preserving and interpreting the county’s rich history.
Over the past decade, the Museum has:
w adopted a strategic plan, guiding the Museum in a transformation from an institution with displays of legacy collections to a dynamic, active place with exciting, new, interpretive exhibits;
w completed an $830,000 capital campaign to support the new exhibit program;
w won passage of a county-wide sales tax to support the Museum’s annual operating expenses;
w researched, planned, designed and installed a 900 sq. ft. orientation exhibit which summarizes Andrew County’s history and serves as introduction to A Rural Way of Life, a new, permanent, 3,900-square-foot exhibite
Over the next two years, the Museum will complete A Rural Way of Life’s additional 3,000 square feet and introduce new programs for visitors.
Work on the remaining 3,000 sq. ft. permanent exhibit “A Rural Way of Life” is well underway and will be completed in 2008 interpreting the county’s history from 1841-2001. New programs will provide opportunities for families and groups to get involved in Andrew County’s history.
