The Savannah Parks department and Park Board are responsible for an outstanding parks and recreation system. A tax-supported system of parks and various recreational programs are offered to Savannah residents. There are three public parks. The system features the 90 acre Harry F. Duncan Memorial Park, the 25 acre Messick Park and the Savannah Youth Sports Complex. The parks contain playground equipment, shelter houses, sand volleyball, skate park, and athletic fields for baseball, softball, soccer and football.

The beautiful 25 acre, tree-shaded Messick Park is located between Chestnut and Main Streets and 12th and 14th Streets.

Youth Sports Complex 

Youth Sports Complex

The Savannah Youth Sports Complex is renowned for its baseball/softball, soccer, and youth football fields. The facility was created by David Crane and donated to the City. The Park Department, Mr. Crane, the Youth Football Board, and other citizens have continued to improve and expand the complex making it one of the premier youth sports facilities in the region

In November 2012 the voters approved renewing the debt service tax to fund a $650,000 pool renovation project. Brooner Construction has started on the project which was completed in 2013.

The Savannah Municipal Pool opens Memorial Day weekend, weather permitting. The temperature of the pool must be at least 72 degrees for the pool to open. Phone number is 816-324-7535 during normal business hours.
